Kid-Friendly Activities in Chester County, PA
Updated 2026-05-24 · Kid Friendly Chesco editors
Chester County punches well above its weight for things to do with kids. You've got world-class botanical gardens, a network of county parks, pick-your-own farms, paved rail trails flat enough for a running stroller, and a food scene that's caught up enough that you can find a decent brunch without an hour's drive. The challenge is knowing what's actually worth it versus what sounds good on paper. This is our starting list.
01American Helicopter MuseumWest Chester·indoor
American Helicopter Museum
One of the most underrated kid destinations in Chester County. Over 35 helicopters, and several that kids can actually climb into and sit in the cockpit — which is the part they'll talk about for weeks. The collection spans military, rescue, and experimental aircraft. Adults who aren't plane people will still enjoy it. Toddlers who love vehicles will lose their minds.
- Parking
- Free lot on site. Easy.
- Crowds
- Never feels crowded. Weekday afternoons are particularly relaxed. A genuinely uncrowded museum experience, which is increasingly rare.
- Hours
- Thu–Sat 10a–5p, Sun 12p–5p. Closed Mon–Wed and major holidays. Last admission 4p.
- Good for
- Toddlers, Preschool, Kids, Tweens, Teens
02Boulder Falls Miniature GolfDowningtown·outdoor
Boulder Falls Miniature Golf
Not the painted plywood variety — Boulder Falls is a real landscaped course with a cascading waterfall, streams, and ponds winding through 19 holes. The setting makes it feel like more than mini golf, and the prices are genuinely reasonable. Kids 3+ are priced; toddlers with a grown-up can tag along for free.
- Parking
- On-site lot. Easy.
- Crowds
- Weekend afternoons are the busiest but the course has enough space that it rarely feels crowded. Weekday evenings are very relaxed.
- Hours

- Good for

03BounceUExton·indoor
BounceU (Exton)
The structure here is better than most bounce facilities — sessions are capacity-capped so it doesn't turn into a mosh pit, and the Preschool Playdate sessions on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings are specifically for under-5s, which means no big kids flying past your toddler. Check the calendar before you go; open bounce times aren't daily.
- Parking
- Large lot in the Springdale Drive commercial area. Easy.
- Crowds
- Preschool Playdate sessions fill up — book online in advance. Weekend open bounce is busier and more mixed-age. Morning sessions are calmer than afternoon.
- Hours
- Open bounce times vary — check website calendar. Preschool Playdate: Tue–Wed 10a–noon. General open bounce: select afternoons and weekends.
- Good for
- Toddlers, Preschool, Kids

Brandywine River Museum of Art
This is the museum you bring kids to when you want them to actually care about what's on the walls. N.C. Wyeth illustrated Treasure Island, Robin Hood, and dozens of other children's classics — the originals are here, and kids who recognize them from their bookshelves have a genuine reaction. Andrew and Jamie Wyeth round out the collection. The building itself is beautiful, right on the Brandywine Creek.
- Parking
- Free lot on site. Easy access from Baltimore Pike (US-1).
- Crowds
- Free First Sundays (Feb–Nov) are busy — arrive at opening. Regular admission days are notably calmer. Never feels overwhelming even on busy days.

- Good for
- Preschool, Kids, Tweens, Teens

Kardon Park (Downingtown)

The indoor conservatory is the move in winter. Buy tickets in advance; walk-ups often sell out on peak days.

14Markie's Mini GolfPhoenixville·outdoor
Markie's Mini Golf
Two things make Markie's worth the trip to Phoenixville: the unlimited replay policy (one admission, play as many rounds as you want) and the Nelson's Ice Cream on site. 26,000 square feet of natural terrain with streams, ponds, and a waterfall. The combination of outdoor mini golf and ice cream at the end is a genuinely perfect kid outing.

Skip the evening visits; after 8pm the crowd shifts.
